coaching

Caveness Voice was born out of a desire to rethink the way we talk about the voice.

Voice is such a highly personal - and therefore nuanced - instrument, and every voice needs its own unique approach to liberate it.

My superpower as a vocal + creative coach is a combination of my real-world experience as a professional vocalist + independent artist, coupled with my own formal, contemporary training. I’ve been a vocal coach for 10 years, and have been studying the voice + singing for 27 years. I’m super passionate about helping everyone - all voices! - uncover their inner singer, tap into their voice, and build it into the kind of voice that is strong, dynamic, expressive - and wholly you.

Over the years, I’ve honed a deep knowledge of the voice along with a wealth of experience working with my own + hundreds of other voices. Through this, I’ve developed the ability to cut through a lot of what I consider to be confusing, misguided, or outdated singing-speak, hear + pinpoint very quickly where a singer’s vocal issues lie, as well as what the work is to fix them.

What does that mean? In short: we will get down to brass tacks, figure out what’s working, what isn’t, and make a clear game-plan to fix your vocal challenges with approachable, clear techniques + lots of TLC. We’ll get you to into your voice and out of your head, and using your voice the way that you want to.

Please read below for more about my offerings, and feel free to send me a message to discuss working together.

  • I offer private, 1:1 vocal + artistic coaching either in-person at my studio, or virtually via Zoom. Think of lessons like having a personal trainer for your vocal cords, because that’s what we’re doing here, guys - whipping those voices into shape. Lessons are fun, supportive, and chock-full of customized-to-you lesson plans to get to the bottom of your vocal challenges, and help build your voice from the ground-up. You’ll leave your lessons with customized notes and a practice regimen tailored to you, as well as a better understanding of YOUR voice, and what to work on to bring it to the next level. We’ll work on foundational pieces to strengthen your voice, and then put those concepts into real-life context with songs + music you actually want to sing (I promise to never force you to sing any cheesy crap that makes you cringe! I’ve been there, and it ain’t it).

  • I have experience in a wide range of contemporary styles and genres, but my main specialties are rock / indie / folk / pop / R&B / country / bluegrass / soul. I am a firm believer in everyone's ability to not only learn to sing, but to find their unique voice; for professional artistic goals or just for the fun + catharsis of singing.

    Let’s find your unique vocal-potion.

  • I work with many professional musicians who are looking to strengthen their vocals or improve a certain skill, such as singing harmonies, blending, fronting a band, etc, as well as aspiring artists who are just starting out. As a professional musician I've released multiple albums of my own music with my bands + as a solo artist (Vandella / The Old Grey Whistle Test / Rubber Tramp), and provided both session vocals and background vocals for many other artists and bands. I have extensive experience in managing musical projects, from launching a new project, to recording, to booking and playing shows/tours, navigating the music business, band-leading, networking, musicianship, marketing, etc. You name it, I can help you get there! I have a ton of real-world, DIY insight (and hilarious / ridiculous stories!) that I pull from to help my students with career development / consulting, and artist development / management.

I’m here for everyone to take over the world with their art and unique voice - let’s do this!

  • Singing is one of the most personal, and therefore terrifying, things someone can do with their bodies! It is not for the faint of heart, I can tell you that.

As a front-woman and lead / background vocalist for my own + myriad other musical projects, I have years of performance experience under my belt. I also have dealt with + worked through my very own Performance Anxiety - so I know firsthand how it manifests, and how to work past it and out of it. One of the greatest honors of my work is being able to help people work through their Performance Anxiety, by fostering a safe space and relationship for people to discover their voices, learn the ins + outs of them, build better singing habits, and to hone and practice performance tools and skills.

  • I offer a series of Performance Workshops as well as Live Performance Showcases, where I work with each singer to curate a set of songs for them to perform at a real venue, as part of a real show, to give them an outlet to dip their toes into the performance waters. These are some of the most rewarding moments of my work, and I am proud to say I have gotten many singers up on a stage who never thought it was possible - and feeling not only confident, but feeling absolutely liberated.
